30 September 2021 | Americas GP PreviewÁlex Márquez is relishing the opportunity to tackle the legendary Circuit of the Americas on a MotoGP bike for the first time this weekend. With GP racing returning to Texas after a two-year hiatus, the LCR Honda CASTROL rider will make his premier class debut at the venue and is hopeful of a strong showing after a positive test in Misano.
The final in-season test session in San Marino saw the Spaniard make considerable improvements after trying out a number of new parts. He is now hoping to put them in play at a circuit that traditionally favours the RC213v and where he finished as runner-up in the Moto2 class back in 2018.Álex Márquez“I’m excited and motivated go out of Europe again, because we have been racing in Europe for a long time and it’s always really nice to go to the US. The track will be new to me on a MotoGP bike and it’s a really long track that will take a bit of time to learn. But I’ve already raced there in Moto2 and Moto3. The track normally fits the RC213V quite well, especially with Marc, but also Dani [Pedrosa] was also really fast there with this bike. I’m looking forward to getting there and seeing how the asphalt is after two years. We come from a really positive test at Misano, where we tried some new items that I hope can help us. We will try to be competitive from the beginning and make a good race.”
