TAKA ON THE THIRD ROW FOR VALENCIA FINALE13 November 2021 | Valencia GP QualifyingLCR Honda IDEMITSU rider Takaaki Nakagami will start the season-ending Valencia Grand Prix from the third row after a hectic qualifying series. Overall, the LCR Honda IDEMITSU rider enjoyed another impressive day at the Circuit Ricardo Tormo, topping the FP4 session and eventually claiming 9th position on the grid having progressed automatically to Q2.
Sitting in 6th overnight, Taka ensured his spot in the qualifying shoot-out by taking seventh in FP3 in dry and sunny conditions. He then demonstrated his potential for Sunday’s race by topping the timesheets in the final free practice session, before going ninth fastest in Q2 – finishing as the leading Honda rider. Takaaki Nakagami – 9th (1’30.644)“To be honest, I expected a little bit of a better result, but third row (P9) is not too bad for tomorrow’s race. In FP4 we were fastest and that’s good for the race pace. In qualifying it was a little bit strange as I struggled with the performance of the speed, but I’m really looking forward to the race. Hopefully we can make a good start and follow the top guys and I’ll fight until the chequered flag.”
