ÁLEX MÁRQUEZ TARGETS IMPROVEMENT AFTER DAY ONE IN AUSTIN1 October 2021 | Americas GP PracticeLCR Honda CASTROL rider Álex Márquez experienced mixed fortunes on the opening day of free practice for the Grand Prix of the Americas. With the premier class returning to Texas after a two-year hiatus, the Spaniard was making his debut at the venue on MotoGP machinery and again showed his potential as weather played its part on Friday.
FP1 took place in wet conditions with Marquez demonstrating his ability on a damp track as he went 6th fastest in a session dominated by Honda bikes. The circuit had dried out for FP2 later in the day and, although he had to settle for 16th position overall, Álex will look to improve after acquainted with the Circuit of the Americas on his RC213v.Álex Márquez – 16th (2’05.614)“In the morning it was wet and I was not feeling great, but we made some change towards the end of FP1 and I felt really good and we were able to finish P6. Then in the afternoon the track was completely dry and I was trying to improve, but it was quite difficult. I had some issues with the soft tyre. The conditions don’t really matter, we need to be fast and try to improve as much as possible. Also, I need to learn to how to push a bit more here with the bike, but the team is working well and I’m sure tomorrow we’ll make steps forward.”
