TAKA TARGETS IMPROVEMENT AT MISANO17 September 2021 | San Marino GP PracticeTakaaki Nakagami will focus on improving the set-up of his RC213V after a challenging first day of free practice for the San Marino Grand Prix. On a day of mixed weather at Misano, the LCR Honda IDEMITSU rider ended up in 13th on the timesheets and with work to do ahead of tomorrow’s FP3 session.
Back on the LCR team’s home patch in Rimini, FP1 took place in dry conditions and Taka settled for 13thposition in a typically tight session, just seven tenths behind pacesetter Maverick Viñales. Rain then fell directly before FP2 to ensure difficult track conditions and Taka was unable to find any rhythm on the wet asphalt as he finished down the order.Takaaki Nakagami – 13th (1’33.409)“Today they were tough sessions, both the morning and afternoon, especially this afternoon in FP2 in wet conditions – from the beginning I had no confidence, especially the feeling with the front (of the bike). During the session the team tried to improve the feeling, but unfortunately, they couldn’t find a solution and we couldn’t improve. In the dry conditions we were ok, but we’ve still got a lot of room to improve the feeling, the turning, my riding. We’ll try to improve the bike and be ready for FP3 as we definitely need to be in the top 10 to get through to the Q2 session.”
